Experience in Resource Shale Plays – Oil and Gas Production Evaluating hydrocarbon saturation, TOC content (Passey method), clay volume, porosity, core-to-log interpretation integration and shale rock properties for new wells and new prospect evaluations in the Barnett, Bakken, Haynesville, Eagle Ford, Marcellus, Muddy and Pearsall shales.
Tight Gas Trends of East Texas and North Louisiana PSI staff members were chosen to assist Devon Energy in-house with efforts to exploit these difficult, tight trends. PSI was working closely with the client’s exploration and exploitation groups to maximize the value extracted from the existing log database for both producing characteristics and seismic response.
Deepwater Gulf of Mexico Several clients have engaged PSI to extract rock properties from well logs for the integration of petrophysical and seismic data in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico.
2000-well Study, Permian Basin PSI provides ongoing quality control, log normalization and interpretation for OXY Permian on more than 50-years of data involving thousands of wells in the Permian Basin. The results delivered by PSI allowed the client to build a highly quality-controlled 3D geological model for a new drilling campaign. This project was one of a continuing series of similar projects performed by PSI for this client, all involving a very large number of wells of different vintages.
Latin America
South America’s developing plays PSI is one of the world’s most experienced independent petrophysical consultancies and our interpretation experience spans the globe, working in a diverse collection of basins and reservoirs. Our rock-based approach integrates all rock and fluid information, delivering a consistent interpretation to our clients.
Europe/Africa
Bid Round Study, Libya PSI’s expertise in old well logs and carbonate reservoirs led to involvement in recent bid rounds for opportunities in Libya. PSI has conducted other similar studies for projects in the Western Desert, Egypt, Brazil, the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Colombia and elsewhere. For these projects, PSI has participated in multidisciplinary teams with geoscientists and engineers, helping to bridge the integration gap between these disciplines.
Petrophysical Support for Major LNG Project, Angola PSI has for five years provided its reservoir characterization expertise to a major LNG project, offshore Angola. This LNG project is one of the world’s largest, involving 20± fields and 100± wells.
Russia
Expertise with Russian Logs PSI is the leading western expert in the interpretation of Russian-style well logs and has performed approximately 70 petrophysical studies involving more than 1,400 wells for several clients. Because of this expertise, PSI is sought out to assist with reserve evaluations, due diligence on production sharing agreements and property acquisitions. PSI President Bill Price served as the SPWLA Distinguished Lecturer on Russian logs in 1995-6.
Middle East
Oman Well Log Database, OXY Occidental Petroleum chose PSI to re-interpret its entire database of well logs in Oman. For this project, PSI worked on an integrated team with the client’s geoscientists, engineers and reservoir modelers to create a standardized interpretation for risk assessments, field development and planning purposes.
Southeast Asia
For reservoirs in Southeast Asia PSI offers experienced independent petrophysical consultancy. Our interpretation experience encompasses this region as well, working in a diverse collection of basins and reservoirs. Our rock-based approach integrates all rock and fluid information, delivering a consistent interpretation to our clients.
Australia
For reservoirs in Western Australia PSI delivers experienced independent petrophysical consultancy. Our interpretation experience encompasses this region too, working in a diverse collection of basins and reservoirs. Our rock-based approach integrates all rock and fluid information, delivering a consistent interpretation to our clients.
